ANCHOR HANDLING, TRAINING OF NEWCOMERS
This course is for officers who participates in AH operations on the bridge with nautical education at management level.
The purpose of this training course is to give captains and officers with limited or no experience from anchor handling simulator training. After the course participants should be able to carry out a routine anchor handling operation under normal conditions and under supervision of an experienced captain or senior officer.
The duration of the course is 4 days (28 hrs) and the maximum number of participants is 6.
The course covers theoretical topics and simulator exercises such as:
- Rules and regulations
- Stability theory and IT applications
- Teamwork and communication
- Bridge procedures
- Safe job analysis
- Manoeuvring, including DP
- Chase anchor, recover anchor, deploy anchor
- Emergency procedures
In order to receive Document of Evidence the participants must pass a practical simulator test and a written exam.
The course is in accordance to Guidelines for Offshore Marine Operations.
This course can be adapted to the experience-level of the participants.
