This course is for navigators that are obtaining a DP certificate. There is a prerequisite for the participants to have attended DP Induction and obtained 60 days approved DP sea-time (30 days if Induction was completed in 2014 or earlier) before attending this course.
After the course the DP operator should acquire insight, experience and confidence in the execution of DP operations, including the ability to handle system errors under different conditions.
Duration of the course is 5 days (40hrs) and the maximum number of participants is 6.
The course follows Nautical Institute’s learning program modules OOT0201 – OOT021201 and covers topics such as:
- Planning, risk assesment and hazard identification
- DP system principles
- PRS handling
- Cargo Transfer
- DP Incidents
In order to receive Document of Evidence the participants must attend the course and pass a written exam (Nautical Institute’s online exam when available).
The course is in accordance with IMCA M117 and Nautical Institute’s Dynamic Positioning Training Accreditation Standard.
