DP RevalidationThe course which lasts for 5 dasys, is intended for those who have already been issued a DPO certificate from The NI but are unable to revalidate their DPO certificate due to insufficient DP sea time. The overall course aim is to update the DPOs with the latest rules and regulations, position references and sensors, known DP incidents and lessons learned. This course consists of a number of learning modules. Each module states the learning objective(s) the participant work to meet by studying the module. The course has been developed according to The NI’s requirements.
DP for subsea peersonnelThis course is a 3 day version of the DP Induction course (5 days) and takes place in full-scale simulators and class room. The content is an extraction of the course with focus on offshore operations utilizing DP. This course is meant to give a broad overview of DP as a technical system and what it can be used for, as well as the standards, Class demands and usage in offshore operations. The course is for personnel from the subsea industry such as COOs, Engineering Managers, engineers (all levels), company clients, Offshore Managers, Shift Supervisors, ROV Supervisors and Survey Technicians. No nautical education is needed to participate in this course, but Offshore experience and knowledge of vessel operations is of great benefit. After the course, the participants should be able to explain the principles of dynamic positioning operations and it’s technical structure. The participants will gain an understanding of DP principles and equipment, as well as be able to plan and use the different modes and possibilities in a DP system. The participants will also have an overview of DP Class demands and safety factors according to IMO MSC/circ.645 and plan the use of these in HAZOP/RAs/setup/operations. The course will also give examples of ASOG (Activity Specific Operational Guidelines), CAMO (Critical Activity Mode) and vessel operational scenarios.” The course follows extractions of the DPO training schemes and documentation, and we are using Kongsberg DP systems and manuals for the practical simulation exercises. Standard Industrial Guidelines are used to ensure up to date operational standards are followed.
DP Introduction (for personnel without nautical background)After the course, that lasts for one day, the successful participants should be able to: - Have acquired knowledge of the principles of DP. - Have acquired a basic understanding of how to set up a DP system. - Have understanding of the practical operation of associated equipment, including position reference systems. - Be able to recognize the various alarm, warning and information messages. - Be able to relate the DP installation to the ship system, including (but not limited to) power supply, maneuvering facility, available position reference systems and nature of work. - Be able to relate DP operations to the existing environmental conditions of wind, sea state, current/tidal stream and vessel movement.

Both courses are in accordance with GOMO guidelines, O & G UK regulations and Statoil’s competence requirements.
Ship to Ship Operations according to “Ship To Ship Transfer Guide for Petroleum, Chemicals and Liquefied Gases”  approved by CDI, ICS, OCIMF and SIGTTO.
In addition to these standard courses, Simsea offer training in Ship to Ship operations and training in maneuvering in a number of ports and coastal areas like Sao Sebastiano in Brazil.
Offshore Loading Basic
Our Offshore Loading Basic course combines the phase 1 & 2 courses in a 5 day course. The course covers tandem, OLS and SPM.
Offshore Loading Refresher
This 3 day course is a refresher of the Offshore Loading Basic course. According to public regulations this course should be taken every three years.
TankermanTankerman high-grade course according to IMO model courses 101E and 102E.
Ship handling and maneuveringThis course provides training with relevant ship models in narrow/tight harbor conditions (Dunkirk, Rotterdam, etc) and in special challenging areas and conditions like Sao Sebastiao in Brazil.
Simsea offers DPO specialisation as well DPO Certification Tests for shuttle tankers and rigs according to the DNV-GL scheme. A web based pre-test is offered to the candidate check competence level.

This 4-5 day training is aimed at maritime officers on semi-submersible rigs wishing to train on DP, POOSMOR as well as stability and ballast incidents . The course is to a high degree tailor made to the customer's and the course participants requirements and are only held upon formal request. Emergency preparedness and BRM could be integrated in the training as well as assessment of the course participants. It is recommended that the course participants come from the same shift onboard. (IMO) Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) Semi-Submersible CourseThis is a five days course is designed for OIMs at semi-submersible rigs. The course is according to IMO Resolution A.1079 (28), recommendations in Table 6.2 and are accredited by DNV-GL.
(IMO) Maintenance Supervisor MOU CourseThis is a 3 days cours for Maintence Supervisors on MOUs designed according to IMO Resolution A.1079 (28), recommendations in Table 6.5 and accredited by DNV-GL
(IMO) Rig Stability and Ballast ControlThis is a five days course designed for coming OIMs and Stability Control Managers at semi-submersible rigs. The course is according to IMO Resolution A.1079 (28), recommendations in Table 6.2 and 6.4 and are accredited by DNV-GL.
In our integrated subsea simulator we can provide anything from ROV pilot training (in our Kystdesign ROV control room) and familiarization to complete dry runs of real operations. Such dry runs include bridge, crane, ROV and Shift Supervisor working in the same environment. Allthough Simsea has an extencive library of simulator models, dry runs will require modelling. Dependant on the learning objectives the customer might want to model subsea equipment, infrastructure, sebed as well as even ships. Because of this, the planning time for dry runs could be 3-6 months.
Complex operations in simulator
In our integrated subsea simulator we can provide our customers with the possibility to carry out dry-runs of complex operations. A dry-run in a realistic environment will reduce the cost of the project as it reduces offshore time and risk for stops in the operation. We can provide modeling services, familiarization, team training and a dedicated room for observation for project personnel. Click here for more information.

DP Awareness for Subsea personnelThis course is a 3 day version of the DP Induction course for DPOs that run over 5 days. The content is an extraction of the 5 day DPO course with focus on offshore operations utilizing DP. This course is meant to give all Operational Offshore crew positions a broad overview of DP as a technical system and what it can be used for, as well as the standards, Class demands and usage in offshore operations. Investigation and Inquiry
This course is a must for all categories of personnel that are involved in internal investigation teams. The course focuses on root causes, different accident perspectives and MTO methodology including human, technology and organisational factors. Examples used in the course are based on incidents in maritime, offshore and onshore industries. Customized versions can be prepared on request. The course is thought by skilled instructors with experience from inter alia police work and is accordance with SfS Recommendation 029N/2014 Investigation and Inquiry into HSE incidents.
Simsea are accredited to offer Emergency Management training by the Norwegian Oil and Gas Assosiation. The training consists of two courses, the basic course and the refrsher. After completing the courses the participant should be able to participate in the emergency management in his/her own organization, as well as have an understanding of emergency preparedness requirements in the petroleum industry.Emergency training courses could be combined with other training for instance Rig Operations.
Emergency Management BasicThis course is in accordance with the Norwegian Oil and Gas' guidelines but can also be adjusted to any other pro-active method preferred by the customer.
Emergency Management RefresherThis course is in accordance with the Norwegian Oil and Gas' guidelines but can also be adjusted to any other pro-active method preferred by the customer.
Norwegian Cadet PEC Course
This course wich is accredited by the Norwegain Coastal Administration, is a necessary step towards a Cadet PEC. The course lasts for five days and are held in English. A Norwegain State Pilot will always bethe lead instructor on these courses.
Coastal Navigation for Cadet PEC
This 5 day course is the first step towards a Cadet PEC. With a Cadet PEC a navigator can attend the function as officer in charge of the watch inside Norwegian waters without a ordinary PEC. For more information about the Cadet PEC arrangement, please visit the NCA's website.
